Admissions Requirements

High School Requirement 

  • Submit a proof of High School Diploma, GED, and/or HISET
  • A copy of a high school diploma or an official GED/HiSet certificate may be submitted in person with a photo ID or may be sent via email directly from a school official.
  • International high school diplomas and transcripts outside of the US may need an official translation and evaluation.

Mandatory Medical Imaging Information Session 

The mandatory info session expires one year after the application deadline. Applicants must complete a new session if more than a year has passed. 

If you are more than 15 minutes late, your attendance will not be counted, and you will have to attend another in-person session.

Required Prerequisites Courses (All grades must be a C or higher) 

  • ENG-111 College Writing I  
  • MATH College Algebra or Statistics  
    • We will accept MAT003 / MAT181 or higher
    • Complete any three-credit college-level Algebra or Statistics course
  • BIO-203 Anatomy/Physiology I & Lab  
    • All biology courses must have been completed within 10 years before the start of classes in the Fall.

TEAS Exam 

The TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) is a standardized, multiple-choice exam used by nursing and allied health schools to evaluate an applicant's academic readiness. Published by Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI), it covers four core subjects: Reading, Math, Science, and English/Language Usage. 

  • Must be taken in-person. No remote scores are accepted.
  • The TEAS can be taken up to three times within a calendar year.  
  • Applicants are permitted up to three (3) TEAS attempts per application cycle. All attempts must be completed within the current year and may include tests taken in the upcoming year, provided they occur before the application deadline in February 2027.
    • Only TEAS scores achieved within this defined timeframe will be considered valid for the application cycle. Attempts taken outside of this period will not be accepted.
  • Individual section scores from multiple attempts will not be combined. The single highest composite score from one qualifying attempt will be used for evaluation.
  • Students must wait 30 days between each testing date.  
  • Applicants must score a minimum of 60% in Reading, Math, English, and Science

  • ENG 112 English Writing II
  • BIO 204 Human Anatomy & Physiology II with lab
  • CIT 110 Concepts and Applications
  • SOC 101 Principles of Sociology 

College 

We will accept unofficial college transcripts for application review. However, if you are admitted, you are required to submit official transcripts. Failure to provide official documentation will result in withdrawal from the program. View our transcript policy on the bottom of the Admissions homepage.  

After Admissions Requirements

Required for selected waitlist and accepted students into Cardiac and General Sonography program: Imaging Technology I MIG 111 OR General Physics I/Lab PHY 201 (ONLY for Cardiac and General Sonography) 

Accepted students must complete a college-level physics course before starting the program, typically during the summer. This requirement can be fulfilled by taking either MIG 111 or PHY 201. 

Social Security Number Requirement 

An active Social Security Number (SSN) is mandatory to participate in the clinicals for the BHCC Medical Imaging program. Please be aware that an SSN is also a strict requirement for maintaining a medical imaging license in the state of Massachusetts. Without an SSN, students will not be eligible to complete clinical placements or obtain licensure. You must have a valid SSN 2-4 weeks before your clinical rotation begins. 

Immunizations & Physical Exam Requirement 

If accepted, failure to meet the health/immunization requirements deadline by the date on the acceptance letter will result in removal from the program. 

CORI/SORI Background Check Process 

ALL Medical Imaging Students must complete the CORI/SORI background check process. This will be completed during orientation, and YOU MUST bring the required documents with you. A valid form of ID or a clear photocopy of a valid ID, such as a driver’s license or passport. A copy of the ID will be submitted along with the CORI form.
