Staff from Bunker Hill Community College recently represented the College at the 50th anniversary conference of Community Colleges for International Development (CCID), held in Tucson, Arizona.

Jenny Bobea and Kristen Mckenna at CCIDAt the conference, BHCC’s Director of Language Institute Jenny Bobea and Dean of Workforce and Economic Development Kristen McKenna presented a session titled The Evolution of a Language Institute. Their presentation highlighted the accreditation process for an English Language program, offering insights into how institutions can develop and strengthen high-quality language education that supports international students.

BHCC’s participation also held special significance during CCID’s 50th anniversary celebration. The College is one of the founding members of CCID, dating back to 1976 when then-president Harold Shively joined five other community college presidents to establish a professional organization dedicated to advancing international education in community colleges.

Since its founding, CCID has played a vital role in promoting global engagement in higher education—impacting policies, fostering partnerships, developing programs, and shaping curricula across community, technical, and vocational colleges worldwide.

BHCC was proud to participate in the milestone celebration in Tucson and to contribute to ongoing conversations about globally engaged learning that benefits students, institutions, and communities around the world.
