“Making the Invisible Visible”: A Milestone Moment for BHCC’s Medical Imaging Class of 2026
Wednesday, June 3, 2026
On May 14, 46 graduates of Bunker Hill Community College’s Medical Imaging programs crossed a powerful threshold—receiving the pins that mark their entry into healthcare.
More than a ceremony, the moment told a story of persistence.
Students spoke candidly about the long nights, the pressure, and the transformation that brought them here. “We weren’t just balancing classes and exams,” one student shared. “We were balancing jobs, bills, children, families… and life outside of school.”
Yet somewhere between clinicals and exams, something deeper took shape: confidence.
“Two years later,” another student reflected, “we should all look in the mirror with pride… for transforming into confident, intelligent, and hard-working technologists.”
Faculty reminded the audience of what makes this profession extraordinary. Imaging professionals, they said, are not just behind machines—they are at the heart of care.
“We are the eyes behind the diagnosis,” Professor Erin Peterson said, “the calm voice during a patient’s moment of anxiety.”
That human connection echoed throughout the ceremony. One student captured it simply and powerfully: “We’re not just sonographers now—we’re the calm in someone’s uncertainty.”
As pins were placed and the Imaging Technologist’s Pledge recited, the meaning of the day came into focus. The pin symbolizes not only achievement, but trust—the promise to deliver both precision and compassion in every patient interaction
The ceremony not only honored academic achievement but also celebrated the resilience, sacrifice, and unity that defined this remarkable cohort. As they move forward into clinical practice, these graduates carry with them a shared commitment: to serve, to care, and to make the invisible visible.
