Aly Toure ’16 exemplifies the transformative power of determination, community support, and a commitment to service. A BHCC alum and former biomedical engineering student, Aly continues to make remarkable strides in medicine while remaining deeply rooted in his passion for health equity and global impact.

Aly Toure celebrating his match with familyMost recently, Aly matched with the Harvard Combined Orthopedic Surgery Residency, an achievement he describes as both exciting and surreal. As he prepares for this next chapter, he brings an impressive academic background and a clear sense of purpose shaped by years of study, advocacy, and leadership. During a break from medical school last year, Aly further expanded his global perspective by completing a Master of Public Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, reinforcing his long-standing interest in global health.

Aly’s journey began at BHCC, where he earned an associate degree in biomedical engineering in 2016. While on campus, he was actively involved in the TRIO Student Success Program, SHOCWAVES, the Inspiration Choir, and the Commonwealth Honors Program. These experiences, combined with the mentorship and encouragement he received at BHCC, helped lay the foundation for his continued success. After BHCC, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Boston University in 2019.

Reflecting on his path, Aly has expressed gratitude for the support he has received along the way, particularly from BHCC Professor Elizabeth Dunphy. He credits the encouragement and resources he found at the College as instrumental in helping him envision and pursue a future in medicine.

With career interests centered on orthopedic trauma, global health, and building surgical capacity in West Africa, Aly is driven by a desire to expand access to high-quality care in underserved communities. A former biomedical engineer, he is especially passionate about leveraging innovation and advocacy to drive meaningful change in healthcare systems.

Beyond his academic achievements, Aly has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and mentorship. He has founded and led initiatives such as Emory Wellness, Exercise, and Lifelong Learning (EmWELL) and Black Men in White Coats (BMWC), creating supportive spaces that promote wellness, representation, and inclusion in medicine.

From BHCC to Harvard, and from Boston to London and beyond, Aly Toure’s journey is a powerful reminder of what is possible with perseverance, community, and a commitment to lifting others as you rise. We are proud to celebrate Aly’s accomplishments and look forward to the impact he will continue to make as a physician and global health advocate.
