Lesley University and Bunker Hill Community College Announce Joint Admissions Agreement

Tuesday, February 25, 2025

First public-private agreement for the state’s largest community college comes after a decade of close partnership between institutions

Bunker Hill Community College and Lesley University announced a new joint admissions agreement this week in a signing ceremony on Lesley’s Cambridge campus. The agreement allows prospective students to be admitted to both institutions at the same time and allows students to work first towards an associate degree at Bunker Hill followed by a bachelor’s degree at Lesley.

“This joint admissions agreement between Lesley University and Bunker Hill Community College will give students a seamless path from associate to bachelor’s degree, with the support they need to be successful every step of the way,” said Bunker Hill President Pam Eddinger. “BHCC and Lesley have a long history of collaboration, and this partnership will pave the way toward professional and economic mobility for our students”

The agreement comes after more than a decade of collaboration between the two institutions, during which time more than 350 students have successfully transferred from BHCC to Lesley. Lesley is one of the top five transfer destinations for BHCC students.

“Lesley University is grateful to be able to continue to strengthen opportunities for students interested in careers in education, mental health and the arts, and to be able to help fill the gap in some of these critically need professions,” Lesley University President Janet L. Steinmayer said.

At the signing ceremony, several students who have earned degrees from both BHCC and Lesley spoke about their experiences, including the impact that faculty and staff had on them.

Students interested in any of BHCC’s joint admissions programs—including at UMass Boston and UMass Lowell in addition to Lesley University—should contact the Office of Admissions.
