Bunker Hill Community College Celebrates Time-honored Medical Imaging Ceremony

The Medical Imaging Program Pinning Ceremony, held on May 14, 2024, was a momentous occasion, marking the culmination of the graduates' rigorous training and dedication. The Pinning Ceremony is a time-honored imaging school tradition dating back to the beginning of the 20th century. Traditionally, imaging students have conducted a Pinning Ceremony to mark the passage of the student technologist to clinical practice.

Leading the event was Michelle Gagnon, Professor and Chairperson of the Medical Imaging Department, who served as the Master of Ceremonies. The ceremony began with a warm welcome and greetings from BHCC President Pam Y. Eddinger, followed by opening remarks from Michelle Gagnon, who shared her insights on the students' journey and the challenges they overcame.

Heartfelt speeches from the class representatives of various specializations within the Medical Imaging Program enriched the ceremony. Erka Jaupaj, Kayla Branowicki, Olivia Slayton, and Harim Song shared their personal experiences, the bonds they formed with their classmates, and the support they received from their instructors and peers. Their speeches were a testament to the resilience and determination required to succeed in this demanding field, and they expressed their gratitude to their families, friends, and faculty for their unwavering support.

Faculty members, including Michelle Gagnon, Manal Abdelhady, Lynn Pellecchia, and Erin M. Peterson, addressed the graduates by offering encouragement and advice. They emphasized the importance of empathy, compassion, and continuous learning in their future careers. The ceremony concluded with Michelle Gagnon acknowledging the graduates' significant achievements and urging them to remember their training and the support systems that helped them reach this milestone. The event celebrated hard work, perseverance, and the bright futures awaiting the Medical Imaging Program's Class of 2024.
