BHCC Named "Best Community College" by Boston Spanish weekly El Planeta
Monday, August 22, 2011
For the third year in a row, El Planeta, the largest circulating weekly Spanish language newspaper in Massachusetts, has named Bunker Hill Community College “Best Community College” in its annual “Best Of” survey.
El Planeta’s “Best Of” online poll is for the Latino population in Massachusetts. The recognition published in El Planeta, which has a circulation of 50,000, noted that BHCC is the largest community college in the state. The College was also recognized for its diversity. Demonstrating “strength through diversity” is, in fact, one of the College’s strategic goals for 2010-2013.
The El Planeta award reads: “BHCC is distinguished by the diversity of its students: six out of every ten students are members of minorities, and more than half are women. Out of the total number of students, 700 come from more than 90 countries.”
