Italian for Travelers

In this beginner-level course, students will learn essential Italian for common travel situations over 8 weeks (16 total hours). Topics include dining in restaurants, asking for directions, making purchases, and handling basic travel needs such as hotels and transportation. The course also introduces key pronunciation patterns and cultural insights to support effective communication. Through interactive activities and conversation practice, you’ll gain the confidence to use Italian in real-world situations while traveling.

 No prior Italian experience is required.

 By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Use basic Italian expressions to greet others and introduce themselves
  • Communicate simple needs when ordering food and dining in restaurants
  • Ask for and follow basic directions and location information
  • Manage common travel interactions such as shopping, transportation, and hotel check-ins
  • Use numbers and key phrases to make purchases and understand prices
  • Demonstrate awareness of basic cultural practices and polite communication in Italy
