A sweet new space is changing how the next generation of chefs learn, serving up room to move and the sweet fresh-baked smell of success.

Designed as a modern demonstration kitchen, the Baking Lab supports culinary arts, workforce development, and community programming. The lab is equipped with an integrated video system so instructors can demonstrate every step of a recipe while students follow along hands-on.

The first thing you notice is the space, no more shouts of “Behind you, chef!” as students squeeze past each other. The space has already doubled the size of BHCC’s Baking and Pastry program filling the air with the smell of apple pies and cookies so tempting that campus police once followed the aroma upstairs. From morning through evening classes, the ovens are on, and even former students stop by to peek through the windows or follow the scent of something sweet.
