Pink Patch Project/Breast Cancer Awareness
The Bunker Hill Community College Police Department is once again participating in the Pink Patch Project during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. The goal of the project is to raise awareness for Breast Cancer and to help raise funds to further the research, treatment, and care for those battling this disease. We are passionate about this cause because this disease has affected so many lives within our community, and beyond. Join us in “Putting The Cuffs On Cancer!” To receive a pink patch of your own, make a donation of $10 to our Dana-Farber Cancer Institute fundraising page. Email your confirmation/receipt and shipping address to: bhpdceu@bhcc.edu, BHCC Police Department, 250 New Rutherford Ave., Charlestown, MA 02129, @BHCCPD. Make sure to take pictures with our Pink Patch and use the below hashtags & tag our social media pages! #PinkPatchProject #BHCCPDPinkPatch ANY QUESTIONS? No Shave November
During the month of November, the Bunker Hill Community College Police Department will be participating in Home Base No Shave, to benefit HOME BASE; a Red Sox Foundation and MGH Program. We are committed to raise awareness and funds for the critical, life-saving care that Home Base provides to Veterans and their families, to heal from the invisible wounds, such as post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain-injury. Members of the Bunker Hill Community College Police Department will be growing their facial hair, wearing Home Base pins, bracelets, masks, or wearing our Flag patch during the week of Veteran’s Day, to help evoke conversation. We hope through these efforts we can raise awareness, and break the stigma associated with post-traumatic stress (PTS), mental health, and other invisible wounds of war. If you’d like to join our department in helping veterans and their families, you can donate $10 or more at the link below and send receipt and shipping address to bhpdceu@bhcc.edu  to receive a flag patch. because.massgeneral.org/fundraiser/5680204

Community engagement is one of our main focus areas. Whether it’s connecting with our community through our Coffee with a Cop event, assisting families with their car seat installation, or care packages for the homeless—we listen to the needs of the people and communities around us and respond in ways that are meaningful. Our work allows us to build connections, form collaborations, and strengthen bonds with our neighbors to make a difference in their lives.

Here are just a few  examples of the work we do to support  our local communities.

  • Autism Awareness Month
  • Boston English High School Legal and Protective Services Advisory Board: This advisory board helps guide the program and students to prepare for college and enter the workforce.
  • Bunker Hill Day Parade
  • Car Seat Installation
  • Coffee with a Cop
  • Cruiser Convoy for Special Olympics
  • Domestic Violence Awareness Month
  • Fenway Community Advisory Board: The purpose of the Advisory Board is to foster open communication between CRJ’s reentry programs and the local community, promote active community support for the reentry programs and CRJ’s mission, and to advance public education, understanding, and advocacy for issues related to the reentry programs and its residents.
  • LEARN (Law Enforcement Area Resource Network)- To improve and promote the safety, security, and well-being of students, employees, residents, families, and visitors of Boston area colleges, universities, and hospitals through the collaboration, development, and sharing of programming, intelligence, and best practices.
