Bunker Hill Community College Internship Partners offer Virtual Experiences for Student Interns

As companies and organizations shift to remote working, Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) internship partners are committed to continuing experiential learning opportunities for student interns.
In addition to offering virtual internship opportunities to BHCC interns, many partners including Hack.Diversity and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, participated in the College’s Virtual Career Month this month by hosting WebEx info sessions for students and posting recruitment materials to the College’s website. Raytheon Technologies
Technology and innovation leader Raytheon Technologies is one of the College’s original Learn & Earn partners. The corporation currently has one student intern working in their finance department who will continue to work remotely through the end of the semester. Raytheon's engineers solve some of the world's hardest problems. Their work in aerospace, defense and civil government helps keep people and places safe across the world, from the depths of the ocean to the outer reaches of space.
Hack.Diversity
Internship partner Hack.Diversity tackles the underrepresentation of high-skilled minority employees in Boston’s innovation economy through a free eight-month career development program. While Hack.Diversity has long provided internship opportunities to BHCC students, the organization became an official BHCC Internship partner this spring offering interns industry-competitive paid internships. Spring 2020 interns are continuing to engage in professional development opportunities virtually with Hack.Diversity this semester including 17 BHCC students, the largest representation of any talent partner within their current cohort. All participants have access to interview for summer internships at Hack.Diversity Host Companies, employer partners ranging from high-growth stage (e.g. Drift, BookBub) to enterprise stage (e.g. Liberty Mutual, Vertex, HubSpot).
State Street
For five years, State Street has offered internship opportunities to BHCC students through the College’s Learn and Earn program. The corporation, which is responsible for ten percent of the world’s assets, is continuing to offer paid experience remotely for the BHCC student interning in their office this spring. All in Energy
Internships are continuing this semester for four students working remotely at Learn & Earn partner All in Energy. All in Energy interns gain product knowledge, skills, and experience to succeed in a career in clean energy. The nonprofit proactively recruits interns from communities served by BHCC and has hired interns for part-time positions in the past. BHCC alumni have also been placed in roles at All in Energy partner clean energy companies. Eaton Vance
Named by the Boston Globe as one of the Top Places to Work in 2019, Eaton Vance was one of the first companies to participate in the College’s Learn & Earn program. Eaton Vance provides advanced investment strategies and wealth management solutions to forward-thinking investors around the world. Paid internships will continue remotely this semester for four BHCC student interns working at the company.
Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (ISGM) works with community leaders and artists to co-produce and design programs and hands-on activities that celebrate the voices and talents of its neighboring communities. BHCC currently has ten students placed at the ISGM, which became an official Learn & Earn partner last fall. Internships will continue this semester with remote work and training for students.
