The Small Business Planning and Navigation Program

If you are a resident or business owner in Chelsea, and you want to learn more about how to be successful, the Small Business Planning and Navigation Program is for you! Thanks to a partnership with the City of Chelsea for 2025 we are offering business training classes, certificate training classes, and 1:1 advisory services in Spanish and English, for FREE.

Business Training Classes

Financial Planning for Small Businesses (in English and Spanish)

Offered for free on a first-come, first-served basis to those who live or work in Chelsea, this class provides small business owners with essential financial planning skills to build a stable and profitable business. Over five weeks, participants will learn key financial concepts, including revenue vs. profit, budgeting, forecasting, and financial statements. The course also explores productivity tools, business planning, and strategies for scaling. Gain the knowledge and confidence to manage your business finances effectively.

Operations Strategy for Small Businesses (in English and Spanish)

Offered for free on a first-come, first-served basis to those who live or work in Chelsea, this class provides small business owners with essential strategies to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and maximize profitability. Over five weeks, participants will learn how to optimize workflows, manage resources effectively, and implement scalable systems for growth. Whether you're launching a new venture or refining an existing business, this class equips you with practical tools to enhance day-to-day operations and drive long-term success.

Small Business Marketing (in English and Spanish)

Offered for free on a first-come, first-served basis to those who live or work in Chelsea, this class provides small business owners with practical marketing strategies to attract and retain customers. Over five weeks, participants will learn the fundamentals of branding, digital and traditional marketing, and customer engagement. The course covers social media, content marketing, and low-cost promotional tactics to help businesses stand out. Gain the skills to effectively market your business and drive sustainable growth.

Certification Training Classes

First Aid / Heartsaver® CPR AED*

First Aid / Heartsaver CPR AED is available in classroom training format. The Heartsaver CPR AED course teaches science-based skills, resulting in an American Heart Association Course Completion Card. Heartsaver CPR AED is geared for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years.

ServSafe Manager*

Successful completion of the ServSafe® Manager course includes a certification that verifies that a manager or person-in-charge has sufficient food safety knowledge to protect the public from foodborne illness. Participants who successfully pass the 90-question, multiple-choice exam will receive a ServSafe Manager Certification and wallet card.

ServSafe Food Handler*

The ServSafe® Food Handler Certification is for food handlers such as waitstaff, cooks, and dishwashers. Successful completion of this course includes certification that proves that you have the knowledge and skills to handle food safely and prevent foodborne illnesses in the workplace. To receive this certification, you must pass a test that covers basic food safety concepts.

1:1 Advisory and Consulting Services (in English and Spanish)

Offered for free on a first-come, first-served basis to those who live or work in Chelsea, our 1:1 business advisory and consulting services provide personalized guidance to help small business owners overcome challenges and achieve their goals. Available in English and Spanish, these hour-long sessions can be held in person on the Chelsea campus, at your place of business, or remotely via phone or video chat. Get expert advice on strategy, operations, marketing, finance, and more to grow your business successfully.
