The Pathways to Success: Majors Fair

The Pathways to Success Majors Fair is the perfect place for students to explore academic and career options in one place and imagine the possibilities for their future. Students can speak directly with faculty, staff, and advisors; discover associate degrees, certificates, and workforce options; and get the academic, career, and transfer information necessary to confidently pick a program.
Whether you’re still trying to decide, considering a new path, or confident in your program, the Pathways to Success: Majors Fair is for you!

Prepare for the Fair
Before:
- Review the Programs of Study page to learn about what Associates degrees and Certificates are offered
- Take the Career Coach Assessment – see what areas of work might be a good fit for you based on your skills and interests
- Look up potential majors on Career Coach to see what career paths may be related
- Check out the Changing Your Major page on the Career Advising webpage
- Think about your goals for this event:
- Do you want to make a connection with a faculty member?
- Do you want to change your major?
During:
- Keep an open mind and explore multiple options – visit tables you wouldn’t normally!
- Visit the Advising & LifeMap and Community Connect tables if you want to change your major, or learn more about the process, get information about course pre-requisites, or see how your current classes fit into a new program.
- Visit the Career Advising tables to take a career assessment and get career suggestions based on your skills and interests. Use Career Coach to look up salary information and job duties, or get recommendations for what majors may be a good fit for your career goals.

After:
- If you’re still exploring – Attend Career 101: Major & Career Exploration Workshop!
- Meet with an advisor from Advising & LifeMap or Community Connect to talk with them in more detail about what you learned at the fair.
- Attend Career 102: Creating a Career Plan Workshop to start mapping out your long-term goals
- Plan your degree requirements on Self-Service to create a timeline for graduation
- Set up your account in Handshake to look at potential internships or to make an appointment at the Internship, Apprenticeship, and Career Center.
- Get involved! See if there are any BHCC Clubs that relate to your major or career goals.
