Credit for Prior Learning in Education

BHCC recognizes many of our students come to us with previous work and education experiences. The Education Department offers a variety of ways for students to use prior experience to earn credits toward degrees. The information below highlights some of the available opportunities. Chapter 74 Articulation 

Students attending Chapter 74 Vocational Technical High Schools may be eligible to earn credits in the Computer Information Technology Department.

ECE-116 Intro to Early Childhood Education

ECE-003 Early Childhood Elective

To be eligible for Chapter 74 credit, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Complete high school courses from an eligible Massachusetts Vocational/Technical High School from the programs listed above with a final grade of B (80 percent) or better.
  • Graduate from high school with a minimum overall high school GPA of 2.0 (‘C’) on a 4.0 scale.

Professional Credentials 

Students coming to BHCC with industry recognized credentials can have their credentials evaluated for credit, provided appropriate documentation is provided.
