Bunker Hill Community College Hosts Acclaimed Author of The Unknown Americans

Cristina Henríquez captivated the Bunker Hill Community College audience of students, faculty, staff and visitors on April 28, 2016, with the story of her development as a writer and the discovery of her Panamanian roots. She spoke as part of BHCC’s One Book program, which brings the entire College community together to read a single book over the course of an academic year. This year, members of the College community read Henriquez’ award-winning novel of immigrant life, The Book of Unknown Americans.

State House Ceremony Honors Bunker Hill Community College Graduate

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) student Sondos Alnamos was one of the 29 graduates of Massachusetts public colleges and universities honored at the State House May 9. Governor Charlie Baker, Senate President Stan Rosenberg, Secretary of Education James Peyser and UMass President Marty Meehan attended the “29 Who Shine” ceremony.

Securing that first job is one of the biggest challenges faced by soon-to-be graduates. Professional Threads, a campus event produced by the career services team each semester, helps take the guesswork and stress out of assembling a professional look. Held on March 28 in D-Lounge, just in time for the Spring Job and Internship Fair, the event supplied students with coaching on personal presentation, networking and all the other elements that contribute to professional success.

Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh delivered the keynote address today at the 42nd Commencement exercises of Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) to a full house of graduates, family and friends. A record-breaking 1696 graduates received degrees and certificates, the highest number in the College’s history.
