Welcome to the Allied Health Department 

The mission of the Bunker Hill Community College Allied Health Certificate Programs (AHCP) is to provide students with the education and training they need to become healthcare providers, while focusing on their needs to gain the skills required for success in the workplace, continued education, and achieving long-term goals. 

Our Programs 

Central Processing Certificate 

Graduates of this program qualify as Central Processing Technicians who perform duties in one or more of the functional areas of sterile processing and distribution, materials management, and distribution. Graduates qualify for positions in healthcare facilities and industry. Graduates qualify for advanced responsibilities within the profession, and job prospects are excellent.

Medical Assistant Certificate Program 

This program prepares students to function as members of a health care delivery team and to perform administrative and clinical duties. The program prepares students in Healthcare Provider CPR, EKG, and phlebotomy. This is a fall and spring program.

Patient Care Technician Certificate Program 

This program prepares students to deliver direct patient care through classroom teaching, lab practice, and actual clinical experience in hospitals and long-term care facilities. The program prepares students for a variety of entry-level positions in health care, at the same time allowing them to take prerequisite courses for the Nursing, Medical Imaging, Surgical Technology, or other related programs. This is a fall and spring program.

Certified Nursing Aid - Courses 

This course prepares students to deliver direct patient care in long-term care facilities and the home environment. Students are prepared to become licensed by the state as Nurse Aides and receive a program Home Health Aide Certificate. They do NOT receive a BHCC Certificate. Students who pass the Nurse Aide exam qualify for positions in long-term care facilities and the home environment. This program begins in the fall and spring.
